This week we are preparing for Halloween. We are getting our pumpkin ready. He is going to be Boris the bat. We also enjoyed our quarterly celebration including pumpkin bowling! We are also practicing our math with Boo Bump. It was a great week. During our study of bats this week we talked about echolocation. The kids love to say the word. Here were are being bats and trying to find out what things sound like. On October 13, we participated in a national apple crunch day. Here are pictures of us eating our apples and then the experiment we did with the apples.
This week our focus was on plants, specifically trees. We learned a lot about leaves. We even collected leaves and did leaf rubbings. We also did a rubbing of a tree cookie. Be sure to ask your student about it. We also learned why leaves change color.
Second and Third graders built tower to hold apples. We built towers to hold an apple, the tallest ones were 13 inches. Also, during our celebration we built towers out of apple squares and toothpicks. |
