We have been studying Christmas Around the World. This week we studied Christmas in Australia, China and Japan, where we made ornaments, Africa where we made fireworks and Mexico. We made poinsettias. It has been great fun learning about what other countries do to celebrate.

This week we are celebtating Christmas around the world. We celebrated reindeer from Holland. That's the ornaments in the pictures, christmas log cakes from France, sweet rolls from Sweden and La Bafana (with her broom ornaments) from Italy. We are also celebrating the 12 days of Christmas. So far we have had 12 minutes of dancing, 11 SNowballs (marshmallows) melting, 10 spicy gumdrops and 9 yummy gummy teddys. Wait and see what else we will have. We are heading off to Mexico, Australia, Africa and Japan. It's going to be great!!! This we we read stories about lots of different gingerbread men. We wrote our own gingerbread stories and made our own gingerbread houses. We ate gingerbread men and made ornaments for our Christmas tree. This was part of our Christmas around the world unit. We also celebrated Grinch Day. |
