This week we studied the three states of matter and penguins. During our study of matter we looked at the three states of matter and used them to talk about the life cycle of a snowman. Later in the week we finished our penguin unit including nest building and carrying penguin eggs on our feet. It's harder than it looks. We also looked to see if we were taller than our penguins.
This week we celebrated new years with a new years party including hats, games and cotton candy punch. Later we studies penguins, why they are waterproof and other facts about them. We will continue to study penguins later this week. We also started looking at matter in our world. Late in the week we looked at different solids and liquids. Stay tuned for more!

This week we studies reindeer, played reindeer games. We had a Christmas concert and we had a great time together celebrating Grinch Day, Christmas tree day, and Santa Claus is coming to town day!
The 12 days of Christmas and our Christmas around the world has begun. We celebrated Christmas in Africa with fireworks this week, in Australia with Koala's this week and in Sweden with reindeer. We also had breakfast with Santa on Saturday. We got our books from a Meemic scholastic grant. Our favorites were the fly guy books and we said good bye to our student teacher, Miss Murray. We will miss her!
Thanksgiving break was extended with a snow day. We learned about the gingerbread man this week and we also had a celebration of the little old lady who swallowed some snow. She made a snowman and so did we. It was a lot of fun!
This week we celebrated both a traditional Thanksgiving and a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Here are our pictures.
This week we learned about Pilgrim children. We saw how little room their was on the Mayflower. We learned to play marbles. We looked at old things (in our museum) and tried to decide what they were used for. We also made butter to go with our homemade bread. It smelled great. We will be using the rest of our butter this week for our Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. Thank you to all of the people who helped with our museum.
This week we studied about Owls. We did an owl scavenger hunt and made owls. We also wrote Owl stories that we will publish into a book. We celebrated our WOW board with ice cream and veterans day. On Friday afternoon some 6th grade friends joined us.
This week we celebrated Halloween with a parade, a party and fun costumes. Then we flew into studying about owls. We also started adding with regrouping and adjectives. We have begun working on our class book. Here are some pictures of Halloween!
